Our winter club season is off to a great start.  We have 14 teams participating in both court and turf practices while competing in a wide variety of tournaments throughout the east coast.  We have already had 3 tournament gold medal finishes, U14 Red Team , U19 Red Team, and the U16 Red Team.   The U16 Red team also qualified for the national court tournament in PA by winning their Pool at the NITQ this past weekend.   

This month we will have 4 teams participating in tournaments down in Florida at the Winter Escape and Disney Showcase.  

We are also excited to announce our first Sweepstakes Club Fundraiser this month.  Every family will receive an email in the next day or so explaining this fundraiser.  Fundraising is an essential part of our club's success and being able to keep our costs to families low while providing a top quality field hockey experience.

  We have announced the teams for both our 2025 Winter Escape (High School) and Disney Sunshine Showcase (U10, U14, and U16 players) tournaments.  Both tournaments are in Florida with the Winter Escape Tournament taking place 1/17-1/19 and the Sunshine Showcase 1/24-1/26.

If you are interested in playing for WCU but not interested in our court season, we are proud to announce our Winter Turf Experience.  WCU is providing valuable turf time for ages U14, U16 and U19 players looking to sharpen their skills or just fine tune their play.  Our experienced staff of coaches and college players will guide your play, raise your compete level and continue your excitement for the game.  Players will work with age and skill level teammates as well as play in turf tournaments throughout the winter.  

The season runs from January to Mid March.  The season consists of 10 turf dates with tournaments and play days to be determined.  U19 and U16 players will practice on Saturday afternoons and U14 players will practice Thursday nights at Energy Athletics in Worcester.  Payment plan is available thru the registration link.

* We are excited to be bringing 4 teams to VA this Thanksgiving for the National Shooting Stars Tournament.  Our U14 team will be looking to repeat as Champions while our revamped U16 and U19 teams, playing with the new cutoff dates, look to establish their dominance once again. 

* We will be holding 2025 Winter Tryouts soon, as we look to incorporate both court and turf together in a dynamic package where all players can learn and compete at a high level.  More details to come.

* Disney Tryouts will be coming soon as well.  We are looking at a few dates in October.  

* WCU Gear is mostly in and will be distributed this week (9/9).

* Check out Coach Maddie on the defensive corner.  Coach Maddie will be with us again this winter season.

Due to the crazy weather forecasts for this evening, we are cancelling practice for tonight 6/23.  Please stay tuned for a possible rescheduling of this practice.

We've been busy with all 7 of our teams playing in a tournament or 2 over the last 2 weeks.  Our RCC teams did well. 

The U14 Team finished 12th and fought hard.  They only let up 3 goals on Sunday in the final 2 games of the tournament.  We had alot of younger players who will be back next year to contend for the Championship.

The U16 team also finished 12th in a strong U16 Region.  We scored 8 goals in 5 games with 5 different scorers.  

The U19 team finished 11th and won the last game 2-1 in a hard fought contest.  We will miss all our Seniors and wish them the best as they continue their field hockey dreams.

The Team Store is open with some new items. 

We will be transitioning to Nike products over the next few seasons and will begin to phase them into our WCU Team Store.

WCU has a U19 team entered into the New England College Classic at the end of April, but anyone is invited to the Uncommitted Game.  So even though we only have a U19 team in the tournament both U19 and U16 players are eligible to play.

As we wrap up our ID and tryout days, I wanted to give everyone a sneak peak into how this season is shaping up.  Team placements will be determined after tryouts and after registration for the spring season and are based on ability and age.  Everyone will receive an email no later than Sunday, March 17.  The registration will be available early next week.

Practices start April 28 and run through June 23 with no practice or tournaments on Memorial Day Weekend (Except a Monday night practice for the U16 RCC Group)
